About the teacher

Suzanne Burns
Suzanne’s love for yoga began in 2009 while living in Washington, DC. After practicing both Bikram and Power Yoga regularly for a few of years, Suzanne decided to earn her 200 hour teaching certification through Down Dog Yoga, a training rooted in the principles of Baptiste Power Yoga. What has always drawn Suzanne to this practice is its ability to build communities and empower the individual practitioner. To continue her goal to teach yoga to every body, Suzanne became a licensed practitioner of Yoga for the Special Child in 2014 under the direction of Sonia Sumar and completed her 85 hour prenatal teaching certification in 2015 with Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa. In 2016 Suzanne opened Humble Haven Yoga in her hometown of Richmond, VA. Since then she has continued her work and training as a student with the Baptiste Institute, Yoga for the Special Child, and the Connection Coalition to bring yoga to as many people as possible inside and outside of Humble Haven Yoga’s physical walls whether through weekly studio classes, her own teacher trainings, retreats, or community outreach programs in the Richmond area.
